Proceedings of ProvSec 2020
This volume collects the peer-reviewed papers presented at the 14th International Conference on Provable and Practical Security, held online from November 29 to December 1, 2020, and hosted by the Strategic Centre for Research in Privacy-Preserving Technologies & Systems (SCRIPTS) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Edited by Khoa Nguyen, Wenling Wu, Kwok Yan Lam, and Huaxiong Wang, it appears as volume 12505 of Springer’s Lecture Notes in Computer Science series.
What the Conference Covered
The proceedings bring together 20 papers selected from 59 submissions after double-blind review. The program reflects the conference’s dual focus: rigorous provable security and the practical deployment of secure systems. The papers are grouped into sections on signature schemes and on encryption schemes and non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs.
Signature Schemes and Cryptographic Protocols
Within the signature section, readers will find work on group signatures without random oracles, constant-size lattice-based group signatures with forward security, a lattice-based provably secure multisignature scheme, pairing-free aggregate signatures using pre-communication, short lattice signatures in the standard model, one-time delegation of unlinkable signing rights, watermarkable signatures with computational function preserving, and privacy-preserving authentication for tree-structured data in outsourced environments.
Encryption, NIZKs, and New Directions
The encryption and NIZK section includes research on semi-adaptively secure offline witness encryption and related advanced encryption topics. Together, the contributions address core challenges in constructing efficient, secure, and privacy-aware cryptographic systems.
Research Recognitions and Keynotes
The Best Paper Award went to “Group Signature without Random Oracles from Randomizable Signatures” by Rémi Clarisse and Olivier Sanders, with a EUR 1,000 prize sponsored by Springer. The conference also featured keynote talks by Ronald Cramer, Tetsu Iwata, Chris Mitchell, Mike Rosulek, and Yu Yu.
Who This Proceedings Is For
Cryptographers, security researchers, graduate students, and practitioners working on provable security, applied cryptography, privacy-preserving technologies, and lattice-based constructions will find the volume directly relevant. It is also a useful record of the research presented at ProvSec 2020.
About the Series
Lecture Notes in Computer Science is a widely recognized series for advanced computer science research. Volume 12505 belongs to the SL4 sublibrary on Security and Cryptology, making it easy to locate within libraries and research collections.
