PC Pro – Issue 378, March 2026

PC Pro Issue 378: The AI Reality Check 🤖

The March 2026 issue of PC Pro leads with a question that many of us have been asking: is ChatGPT still the best AI assistant, or has it been overtaken? To find out, the team put eight leading AI platforms through a series of practical challenges—everyday advice, coding, data analysis and overall usefulness. The results are more nuanced than a simple winner-takes-all verdict, and that nuance is exactly what makes the cover feature worth reading.

Elsewhere, the issue brings you the 54 hottest products from CES 2026, from triple-screened smartphones and mini PCs to robots and tablets. It’s a grounded look at what you’ll actually be able to buy, not just what makes a flashy demo.

Reviews That Go Beyond the Spec Sheet 💻

PC Pro’s reviews section is packed with hands-on testing. The lead review is the Amazon Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, a colour e-reader that promises a much better note-taking experience than its predecessors. The team also reviews the 11in Kindle Scribe, a range of mini PCs, Wi-Fi 7 extenders, soundbars, keyboards, 3D printers, desktop NAS, smartphones, and a security appliance. Each review is written with a clear eye on real-world use, value and the alternatives.

Labs: AI Platforms Compared

The Labs section is a standout: eight AI platforms—ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, DeepSeek, Gemini, Grok, Mistral and Perplexity—are tested across writing, coding, advice-giving and business analysis. If you’re choosing an AI tool for work or personal projects, this comparative test offers practical guidance rather than hype.

Features for the Way You Work and Play

Beyond reviews, Issue 378 explores the technology shaping the year ahead. A CES 2026 feature rounds up the laptops, PCs and gadgets likely to appear on your radar. The issue also investigates why the British and US military have embraced esports, examines the growing push for passwordless authentication, and offers a detailed guide to extending your storage—whether on a phone, tablet, laptop or PC. There’s also a look at Wi-Fi 8 and the UK’s 6GHz spectrum debate, plus interviews and opinion columns.

Regulars and Opinion

Long-running columns from Dick Pountain, Nicole Kobie, Barry Collins, Jon Honeyball, Davey Winder, Steve Cassidy, Lee Grant and Olivia Whitcroft return with their usual mix of insight, scepticism and wit. The editor’s letter asks why we still don’t have a robot butler, while the readers’ letters and next month preview keep the conversation going.
