Book Overview
Label 228: A Street Art Project gathers street art created on United States priority mail labels and displayed in public spaces. Camden Noir launched the project by inviting artists to submit work made on Label 228 stickers.
Within six months, Noir had received more than 500 labels from artists around the world. The project later grew to more than 1,500 labels from over 600 artists. This book presents a selection of that work.

Why Label 228 Matters
The project records a form of street art made on an inexpensive, mobile, and disposable surface. Its compact format gave artists a way to create and exhibit work without painting directly on walls, vehicles, or other public objects.
The collection also provides a more permanent record of artwork that could otherwise become weathered or disappear from public view. Its open submission format reflects the book’s emphasis on artistic freedom.
