iPhone For Beginners

Getting a new iPhone set up is easier when each screen and setting is explained in plain language. iPhone For Beginners is a visual, step-by-step guide to the iPhone 11 generation and iOS 13, from first-time setup to the everyday gestures and connections that make the phone useful.

This edition is rooted in its time: it discusses the iPhone 11 range and iOS 13, not today’s iPhone models or software. For readers using that generation of device—or looking to understand its features—the dated focus is part of the guide’s purpose.

Start with the iPhone 11 and iOS 13

The opening sections introduce the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max, then turn to changes and features in iOS 13. Topics include Dark Mode, Find My, Voice Control, Sign in with Apple and updates to apps and the operating system.

Make the first setup less daunting

Clear tutorials walk through setting up an iPhone for the first time, creating an Apple ID and using Face ID or Touch ID. The guide also covers getting online, configuring email and making phone calls, giving new users a practical route through the essentials.

Get comfortable with everyday controls

Touchscreen gestures, the on-screen keyboard and Control Centre each receive their own guidance. Further sections explain home-screen folders and wireless connections through AirDrop and Bluetooth. Together, these subjects help readers find their way around common tasks without assuming prior iPhone experience.

A plain-language guide for new users

With its tutorial-led structure and jargon-free positioning, this edition is suited to readers learning the iPhone basics, especially those using an iPhone compatible with iOS 13. It offers a snapshot of the iPhone 11 era and a structured introduction to the settings and functions featured in that release.
