Computeractive – Issue 708 (23 April–6 May 2025)

Windows 10 support is approaching its end, and this issue of Computeractive makes the transition to Windows 11 its central question. Rather than stopping at upgrade advice, Issue 708 compares the two systems across 18 features, alongside practical tips for making everyday computing safer, clearer and more useful.

Windows 11, compared feature by feature

The cover feature examines what Windows 11 does better than Windows 10. Elsewhere, the issue offers hands-on guidance for searching a PC with PowerToys, making precise edits in ImageFX, improving Chrome’s toolbar and using Mail Merge to send certificates. The emphasis is on specific tasks and approachable explanations.

Make more of the devices and services you use

Workshops range from moving on from Skype and mastering Teams to chatting with Meta AI in WhatsApp. There is also advice on finding and grouping faces in photos, recording parts of your screen, and getting more from Windows features.

Keep an eye on digital safety

Readers will find coverage of phone theft, file formats that may soon disappear, WhatsApp scams and privacy-related technology news. These pieces bring everyday security questions into the same practical mix as the how-to articles.

Reviews, news and reader questions

The issue rounds out its tutorials with technology news, consumer advice, reader correspondence and product reviews covering computers, tablets, phones, audio gear and more. It’s a varied guide for readers who like their tech coverage useful as well as current to the issue’s publication period.

With clear, task-focused advice at its core, Computeractive Issue 708 offers a snapshot of the technology questions and choices facing everyday users in spring 2025.
