Very good tablet with Android 13 and 4G phone calling at a good price.
8 gigabytes of of ROM allows the processor to work fast for a tablet under $200, and to have several programs open. Although 16GB is advertised, only 8GB are real or permanent. The other 8GB are “borrowed” temporarily from the 128GB of RAM – when activated through system settings.Screen protector was already applied – no bubbles. Glass screen protectors are available. Touch screen is sensitive. Fast response.Bright screen, good colors. Videos played without stuttering. Built in music and video players worked well, as did VLC. Internet sites appear and respond quickly. Kindle and book readers worked well.USB C connector is only Type 2.0 speed, but is good for transferring data.Tablet lasted a whole day through mixed use. I did not use it for video games, however.I copied settings and apps from an old Vankyo tablet. Transfer of settings was easy to do wirelessly with the two tablets next to each other.Cameras work well outside or in bright lights. Just okay in low light conditions, but better than my old tablets of five years ago. Open Camera app helped improve pictures.Spacious sound from the 4 speakers. Loud enough for me. No low bass with such tiny speakers, however. I liked that the speakers were on the two short sides. but not on the back of the tablet.Wi-fi worked well and connected reliably and quickly. Bluetooth 5 worked.Android 13 operating system is fast. There was almost no bloatware. I turned off Google Personal Assistant after a while for privacy reasons.My sim card from T-Mobile worked immediately, turning the tablet into a giant cell phone. 4G speed only, however. Helpful for using maps live when in the car.My 512GB SD card worked, allowing access to thousands of songs, books, and magazines.The headphone jack was 3.5mm type. No need for USB to headphone jack adapters.The tablet feels sturdy. The case has a soft clear back with cutouts in all the needed areas.*Problems:The folding 3 section front cover of the case can cause problems. The magnetic case cover needs to be aligned precisely when covering the screen. When folded all the way onto the back of the tablet, the tablet sometimes turns off, and the password has to be re-entered.I avoid this by folding the last third of the cover onto the other two sections of the cover when holding the tablet or laying it flat.Other cases are available for the A13, however.The user guide booklet was difficult to read with such small letters. I had to use a magnifying glass.*No, the Umidigi tablet is not in the same league as $400 Samsungs and iPads, but for $180 (after checking the discount coupon box), the Umidigis A13 Tab is a very good deal.Highly recommended!

(Edit – Although my original review, below, from December ’23 still mostly holds, strange things are beginning to happen now about seven months later. I have been using this G5 almost daily since Dec 03 ’23.The battery, which overall has been great, still charges quickly and has been long lasting. Now it can drain randomly and completely to 0 in a couple of hours even when powered off.Tab might turn itself on after a power down and start playing a YT video, often in the middle of the night.The ‘close-app’ soft button digitizer area at bottom of screen is getting wonky and imprecise.Occasional Bluetooth fail-to-connect issues that require restart.I run very few apps, all approved, and always remove apps that I don’t know.I’d consider filing a warranty claim but my issues would be difficult to troubleshoot. More updates to follow. Five star to four star.)——————-First impressions, this is packaged very nicely, complete with all the accessories you would like such as charger, cable, screen protector, etc. I’ve owned several UMIDIGI products and they all feel solid and well built. This tablet feels good to hold and comes with a clever protective magnetic case with a foldable cover that when shut, automatically activates sleep mode. It also doubles as a stand to prop up for viewing. The 6000 mAh battery lasts a long time…days, on and off in sleep mode about a week with occasional use – pretty much like my Samsung tab… It just goes on and on, and charges quickly with the included charge brick. Wi-Fi is strong and connectivity is quick with no issues, range is excellent also with Bluetooth. The octa-core processor is plenty fast enough for me. Tried light games because that’s all I do and it handled them fine. Sound quality is clear and impressive in depth. Data transmission is fast with a Sim installed as well. Calls are strong and the device performs like a more expensive device – I don’t detect any difference. The specs are as advertised and the 4-8 GB ram operates smoothly with no glitches. Tried a 1 TB TF as a test and handled it no problem but the built-in 128 GB will be more than adequate for my needs, and is fast. The screen is fine for most things and plenty sharp for me. Great for Netflix. Camera is ok, fine for Zoom and video calls. All in all this is a terrific value and solid performer for the price. Two weeks in and I’m glad I could test this thoroughly enough to know it’s a keeper. I must like it because I head for it constantly. The only mods I’d like to see would be a slightly more powerful magnetic catch for the protective flap, and the red and green charging lights are a bit bright for nighttime. Overall I’d definitely recommend this tablet!

From the delivery, to opening the box and now pushing the tablet I am truly impressed.I was amazed by the fact that the tablet came with a case/cover, stylus, screen protector, charger and cable. For most tablets these are all extras. Where as they are all included at a sub $160 mark. The other big impression was the build quality and weight. Both of which at this price point are very good. Time will tell for durability, but at the moment I like it!The tablet was quick to set up, quick to update and a great pleasure to use! The display has been great for movies, editing and sending emails and writing reviews. 😉Sound is not bad, but still a little low in busy areas (out in plublic).Battery is also a nice addition as it has so far lasted for 15 to 18 hours of on and off use including watching Netflix/YouTube and other applications.The only slight improvement could be the camera. My daughter has used it a couple times with mediocre results. Then again this does not bother me as I normally use my phone, point and shoot or my SLR.With all if this being said; I am thinking of a 2nd one to travel with and use on the plane and in the hotel.
