Before I got this book, I had bought some drawing book at Michael’s Arts and Crafts that was the anti-thesis of this book, “Posing for Artists”. This one doesn’t have any nonsense writing, no intricate layouts or anything like that. It’s just white pages with a few figure drawings on each page. Some are poses that I might not have thought of on my own and some are just great to have for practicing in a sketchbook late at night. I actually bought it as a gift for my boyfriend and he’s also a big fan.

I love this book! If you are an artist and want to practice anatomy or making portraits in general, go for this. It has a LOT of poses and references which is so helpful to drawing. Improved my drawing skills by leaps and bounds after using this to practice daily. I recommend referring this rather than the generic reference photos you find on google images or any other website.

Has so many ideas and poses for drawing. Very much recommend. Only complaint would be seeing a few of the same pose throughout the book and multiple books through the series.

Awesome book with a huge amount of poses that are divided between action, flight, sitting and a few casual. They are greatly done, with a lot of reference lines. Nice book to have by side

I like how the book provides some samples of poses that aren’t seen that often from other references to work with. Even though there could be more than what was given in this book, it has enough to develop ideas and alternate them somewhat. I recommend this book for artists who are in need for warm up exercises of figure sketches. Overall I’m pleased with having this book as one of my go to references.

I got a lot of ideas + inspiration from this wonderful book. If you like drawing anime or manga, get it.

This series of books is probably one of the most epic on the market… literally covers every pose and the poses look great and are pencilled in ways which helps to really understand the flow of the body and proportions in different positions, takes time but it’s absolutely brilliant

Getting back into drawing figures and particularly interested in transitioning from art class figure drawing to manga, I was looking for a figure reference book that was a good medium. This book is not too stylistic like manga reference book nor too traditional. It’s a perfect balance of realistic figure drawing in dynamic poses that can be used for manga. This book also contains a lot of drawings in myriad poses. I will be looking for his other books.

For those looking to be original yet needing some visual guidance. Just what I was looking for to expand artistically.

Having bought several of this series let me first say that they are a good resource for beginners. There’s a lot you can learn once you have some basic understanding of construction mechanics. The big downside is that there are many, many, many poses and pictures that show up in multiple books. There are some poses that appear in every book. It’s a little lazy and cheap to sell each book with the exact same image(s) in them.
