    The book which I received is different from the ones I have seen. The original one has glossy pages, more vibrant colours, and does not have print defects. The one I receive is non-glossy and nearly translucent due to its thinness, have print defects (lines running across pages), and is much less vibrant than the original one. Please see the photos for more details. If the book is printed this way, it should be written in the product description.

    This is really amazing book, before I chose it I been selecting between 3-4 books, after reading samples and reviews of them I decided to give it a try for this one, since it was easy to read and I found it pretty cool written with starting example of how logos surround us.
    I’m a starting graphic designer, still learning and this my second book I bought but the first I read, it is an amazing and very helpful book indeed, reccomending to every graphic designer or any who wants to become a designer, I’m self-studying, so this book was a great start, I now have much better understanding of brand identity design and already putting everything on practice table, using his ideas to make logos, and yeah it is working very well and much more satisfying to do the whole process instead of working randomly. Anyway, this book has my reccomendations.

    I am a graphic designer and I can not say enough good things about this book. It is a fantastic book for graphic designers and identity experts.I cannot attest to the difference between the first and second edition as I only read this one. The sheer quality of the advice and case studies in this book is incredible. The information in this book is presented in such a matter of fact manner that not only is it a pretty quick read but very easy to absorb. The only down side I could possibly think of for this book is that it could probably be twice as long if Airey went into more detail on some of the more complex theories in this book. I will definitely be coming back to this book again and again as a resource while designing my graphic identities.

    I bought the book new. Content is great.

    But the book just looks as if it was printed on a mediocre home printer. I feel like it is one of the cheaper book options from Lulu or something. The blacks aren’t very flat or rich. Colors are a little faded. Paper is thin and cheap, even for the cover stock. And full bleed pages have slivers of white from the trim being off.

    Usually design books feel quite a bit nicer than this.

    The Content is good. I will get my money’s worth out of reading it all. Although I did find a typo already.

    I was really pleased with how extensive this book is on the identity design process, without being over-complicated or feeling the need to over-explain itself. Not just an explanation of logo design, it includes a succinct analysis of and process for creating a brand identity for clients, as well as great professional guidance for working with clients.

    Full of explations which helps beginners to come into the subject. Be more simple, what a logo does and that there is no need to include the product into the logo. Instead transporting the feeling of the brand effectively.
    If you need a book telling you how to produce a logo line by line maybe it is not the right book for you. But describing the process it’s in there.
    If you are searching for guidelines how to make your own ideas better, the outcome sharper : this is the main topic of the book.
    I would buy this book again!

    This book is fantastic. I read it cover to cover. Not only does it discuss applications to utilize in workflows pertaining to development of successful logo work, it offers many other additional tips for any practicing designer outside of the artwork i.e. working with the client etc, stories of successes and failures to learn from, great photos showing the process of specific real-time cases in today’s world and the tone of the author is very encouraging and positive. Lastly, there is not one paragraph, page or chapter that was boring or irrelevant or difficult in anyway. The writing, the choice of content and clarity is perfectly balanced. All that said, I highly encourage anyone to pick up David Airey’s other book “Work For Money Design For Love” which I just finished and extracted loads of information. Both books are a constant companion in my designer literature reference library.

    I bought this book in a state of panicked “Creativity Clog”.

    While successfully and happily learning the technicalities of the Adobe Creative Cloud apps as my retirement project (I’m 75 years old) I had been frustrated to discover that my right-brain creativity was ossified. Dead. As stubbornly non-being as a Monty Python parrot. I saw other peoples’ creative work all around me, on walls, delivery trucks, subway station walls, everywhere, but panicked when trying to jump into being original and self-expressive myself.

    But wow! Sigh! Giggle! – this book has come to the rescue. In lovely print, gorgeous colour and clear explanation, it shows how a creative can apply intelligence and empathy to artistic passion and end up with a beautiful, and also functional and valuable, product.

    Thank you, Mr. David Airey, and all concerned in the making of this book, including even Her Majesty The Queen in her quick recognition and approval of the Royal Parks logo. (see page 10.)

    Been hearing good things about this book and was very eager to get my hands on it. When it came, it had i bit of a slice on the back cover– nothing severe as to damage the pages inside. I won’t deduct a star for that because these things happen. I’m more grateful that there’s anything to read at all lol.

    It’s undoubtedly an enjoyable book. Easy to understand breakdowns of some brand identities as well as very crucial tips and guides, such as “mind mapping” for example, to take into account when designing a brand identity that increases the possibility of producing greater results that hit the mark. The book really helps narrow things down from the initial meeting with the client on throughout the design phase and delivery.

    Usually when you observe a brand’s identity, i.e. their logo or trademark, at times it can be difficult to comprehend aside from the obvious fact that it represents something. This book is just one of many capable of changing that perspective with numerous sketches, as one example, that give a hint of what it can take for a mark to get from concept to final design. Some of the other books out there are more portfolios in my opinion and that’s fine, but any design book that includes the process will always be more valuable 🙂

    This book fills many blanks that might have been left during a formal art education. This book provides several examples of professional logos, and includes rough sketches that demonstrate the design process. There is other insight provided as well, such as dealing with clients, negotiating price, dealing with pitfalls. I recommend this book for anyone considering a career in the design industry. If you’re a student and are considering design as a career path, then I highly recommend adding this to your reading material. It’ll be worth the extra time. Be sure to have a notebook handy; you’ll need it!
