This is a great book to learn how to draw from. The most important lesson that I learned from reading this book is; draw in your outline of what you want to draw first. After your outline is finished you can fill in the details. Don’t make drawing anything harder then it really is.

This is the best book on drawing in my collecting. It’s the one book I keep coming back to. I love it.

Very good practice and explaining the mindset very nicely. Not all art learning books are that engaging!

Very little instructions or information, just bare bones “inspiration”

Content wise not very useful. Depends from person to person.
Dennis Van Swol –
I was expecting more detailed information given the number of pages in the book. Just a general overview.

I used to carry a sketch book when traveling to help me see.better what I’m looking.at; a building, a scene at a unique location. I.often I over did details. Its clear now from Spider’s wonderful book that I didn’t know how to do background or outline drawing lines. The book is fantastic in showing how to.outline the scene and be free to fill in details at a later time. What I’d call Sparking the memory and recall.
The one item that needs to be considered is where , when doing a sketch is a good place to jot down notes on.what I’m recalling or trying to do. A separate note book maybe?
So off to find my drawing pencils,.maybe old sketches, which were put away 10 years ago after moving into a retirement community!!

Very complete, also very good to refresh the memory and things long forgotten about drawing.
