The book was just what I was looking for, very helpful. The shipping was very fast, arrived before was originally stated. Very happy with everything!

This book is a great book for anyone trying to learn the anatomy and body posturing of horses. Sam Savitt has done what most “how to draw” books have not, he not only shows you how to draw horses but there is obvious emotion in the drawings themselves. (from an artist’s point of view I can clearly see it but some others might not). Like if on of his how to’s is of a horse being angry, he draws the body, the movement, and especially the look on the face and in the eyes in an angry tone and actually captures that emotion in his image. This would be a great book for art and animal enthusiast to own. Just remember that it’s not a coloring book and that this item is no longer being printed as of a good 10-15 years ago. So whatever books are out there now are the only ones left. Enjoy it.

Extremely well done and lots of terrific information. Was good for me both as a painter and especially as a sculptor.
Eliz J. Baldwin –
One of the best books if you really want to earn what makes a good horse and how to draw them.

Why did it take me so long to discover this guy? Beautiful, perfect horse Draughtsmen. Even if you don’t draw, it’s a book to have on the table.

Sam Savitt could capture the spirit and body language of a horse in surprisingly few strokes of a pencil. If you are serious about drawing horses you MUST understand the bone and muscle structure that is studied in this book. Even copying photographs can produce unwitting mistakes If you don’t know the basics. Please never use the horse ‘models’ sold in art stores, Horses are much more complicated, elegant and fluid than any ‘model’ and their legs move in predictable sequence unknown to those who do not study them. I have seen so much poor horse art for sale commercially, done by people who can draw but do not know how a horse moves. Follow and study the advice in this book and you will be on your way to realistic horse art.
