My husband is thrilled with this book. It adds another dimension into the world of watercolour painting. You don’t need to buy the chinese brushes or paints unless you want to but experiment first with the paints you have. The landscapes are beautiful and it makes you want to visit the country to have a good look.

I like the way Lian Quan Zhen uses anything to deposit masking fluid and color to meld east and west. He uses his hands to mold the image. I have long been a fan and have his DVDs.

A very good introduction to the Art of Chinese watercolour painting of landscapes. The main ideas, and differences with Western landscape painting, are explained clearly and there are good number of examples used to enable the interested novice to try their hand. Well worth buying.

I have placed a “pre-order” for this book by Lian Quan Zhen. Without even seeing it, I can tell you this will be a great watercolor book. If you ever get a chance to attend one of Lian’s Workshops, don’t pass it up. I have been to three and will go again. He visits our area every two years. I learn something new every time …. his teaching method is outstanding. I have All his books. There are lots of step by step instructions. Highly recommend !!
