Gran prezzo per una guida che non pensavo fosse così piacevole da leggere/seguire, davvero consigliata!

There are many Fantasy Artists “How To” guides out there. Some, are stunning in their images but fail to deliver any real instruction or techniques. These we call “resumes” in the field because essentially, they are books of the artist heralding his own work which is fine, but to place it under the guise of a helpful manual is quite misleading.
Then there are the books that have the stunning color imagery, but also a wealth of usable and helpful techniques and advice that help nuture the fantasy artist and encourage them to hone their craft. Glenn Fabry and his book “Anatomy for Fantasy Artists: An Illustrator’s Guide to Creating Action Figures and Fantastical Forms” does just that.
Anyone who has seen Glenn Fabry’s covers and works on the old DC/Vertigo Hellblazer comics know that this man is a mastercraftsman. His works inspire and delight, and like many a masterfcraftsman, success and fame hasn’t made him shut-off to aspiring hopefuls. His book delivers in every sense of the word, giving clear, concise, and useful techniques and inspiration for creating many types of fantasy figures or situations. If you are a fledgling fantasy artisan like myself, or one who just appreciates tips from those who have great experience behind them, this is a great addition to your library.

This is the most detailed guide to creating your own style of characters for any action hero you can think of ~ Your imagination can come to life and special presentation of your hero ~!~

Soddisfatta dell’acquisto. Sto cominciando un corso di illustrazione quindi mi sto cercando manuali pratici che mi possano aiutare nell’apprendimento (nello specifico, lo studio dell’anatomia). Questo offre un approccio diverso ma interessante. Molte immagini a colori e testo chiaro nelle spiegazioni (chiaramente bisogna sapere l’inglese!).

Less about anatomy or imagination than it is about one creator’s views and examples of what he did with certain challenges. Some of those examples feel like they were made/commissioned specifically for the book. Still, there are some good points and observations, and I’m not unhappy I bought the book.

Awesome book by Glenn Fabry. Glenn is a chap of the highest order and a real gentleman. I’m just getting into sketching and this has been so helpful!

if you are trying to have a better handle on how to sketch the human figure in action, this book is helpful. You don’t have to be a cartoon or dungeons’ n dragons fan to use it. In the middle there is a section of poses with real people with various action poses to illustrate the figure and principles discussed earlier in the book.

What a beautiful book inside. It shows the mediuns, how to use them, how to draw, how to sketch and how to color. Lots and lots of illustrations examples for fantasy artists. It as must have. The book inspires me to create more. It’s great to beginners but a collective item for advance artists.

IT provides essential insights into creative phenomena evident in fantasy art. IT is a must have for any artist. The book has several examples from great artists as well as some actual models posing for reference.

This is not going to lift your work from mediocrity to genius, frankly there are some quite bad illustrations in here; but, there are some good ones too. The photo reference section is really well done, and in my opinion should have been expanded. the character development section is not very well done or in my opinion very useful. All in all, the book has a certain charm, some good reference and advise, and no book is going to answer everyone’s questions
