A high-quality book printed in the vibrant colors that make the show so visually engaging. Aside from the history of the show (how the show made its way onto the Cartoon Network), the creative process, and background info about the major characters (as well as cursory information about the minor ones), the book includes the drawing guide and interview “audition” given to the illustrators – so if you want to create your own fan art, you have the basics.
If you are a fan of the show, this really is a “must have.” And I don’t say this very often.

My book was damaged. The front of the cover was torn at the bottom. The packaging was intact. Lame. The book is great though. Pretty much everything you could want to know or see about Adventure Time is here. I especially liked all of the sketches and how it included the rejected drawings and the accepted ones. It’s pretty fun to imagine Finn carrying one of the reject swords or all of Marcy’s outfit concepts and hair styles that we never saw. Lots of fun. There’s a lot of art that you just never see in the show. It also features a lot of still by still images of some of the best scenes artistically. Like Jake stretching his body through a mesh wall. I especially like the art from the earlier episodes. You can see how it was more similar to your standard, kind of raunchy modern Cartoon Network show, and then slowly evolved into its own little universe and totally changed with time.

This art book is unlike any art book I have ever purchased. I’m a huge fan of the show and just knew I had to get this. What I expected was your normal run-of-the-mill art book filled with a forward, introduction a few words about the show and lots of pictures. What I was surprised with was the depth that the book goes into. It’s something I always wished that most art books would do. It explains the thought process through the show, the designs, and the art shown on the pages. To say that too many words would make the book lack images isn’t true. This art book is HUGE. Twice the size of most standard ones that I have owned. It’s a delight to read and I hope anyone else who buys this enjoys it as much as I do.

This TV Show means so much to me. There is so much information and quality art! I love seeing the details behind the scenes — like storyboarding out visual effects (like Marceline transforming) and style guides for characters and environments. This information is priceless, especially if you want to work in animation. Plus, it is cool to read all about the world that is so intricately and masterfully created. I will treasure this book my whole life.

I cannot say enough of how great this book is. I look at it with my kids and definitely paints an amazing picture of the world of Ooo that we have fallen in love with. Don’t even give this a second though and buy it already! The book is super think and bound extremely well. When you remove the dust cover jacket, the book looks as regal as any fine art book there is. The construction fully compliments the holland is a winner for sure.
If you are still reading this and haven’t bought it you are wasting valuable time! It a wonderful and inviting book that anyone would be ecstatic to own.

All around fantastic book for any fan of the series. Great insights into how Pendleton Ward’s whimsical drawings became televisions most imaginative cartoon in years. A great book for animation students as well, as it shows insights into how the show was pitched, as well as what makes Mr. Wards drawings so unique. Tons of artwork complete with a nice price.

A gift for my boyfriend since we both love adventure time. The box was really beat up from shipping but luckily the book was still okay. Great book and definitely worth the money if you like adventure time.

I own many art books. I’m an artist and an animator by trade, so I favor those sorts of art books. There will be days where I sit in my living room, a stack of them all around me, and I’ll read through them for hours. So I knew, as a fan of the show’s background designs specifically, that I needed to add Adventure Time: The Art of Ooo to my collection as soon as I heard of its release.
I was not disappointed.
In fact, The Art of Ooo has changed my expectations for art books. This book is special. It’s the book I recommend to those aspiring toward an animation career regardless on if they’ve seen Adventure Time or not. This book is THOROUGH; it is so much more than a collection of beautiful illustrations. You get the show’s origin story. You learn about the team behind the Adventure Time universe. You glimpse their studio process, their pitch bible, and even the art tests they send to prospective new recruits. I learned so much from this book. I’m STILL learning so much from this book.
The Art of Ooo is huge. You won’t be carrying this book with you on the train to read during your commute — heck, it’s difficult enough reading it before bed! The book is heavy, but it’s overflowing with excellent information and amazing artwork. Out of my entire collection, this art book is my favorite. It’ll surely become yours, too!

Beautiful. I love this book. As a graphic designer and professional illustrator, I appreciate the artwork, story-telling and white space that compose the design of the publication itself. Beyond the design, the content is great, interesting, and easy to follow. It is a great coffee table book to just pick up a few times a week and read a small section. So fun for creatives, artists, animation enthusiasts, and accountants (my husband is a CPA, bought it for me)!

MAGNIFIQUE !
