As often as possible, the drawings are presented in full size, so that they are as close to the originals as they can be. Arranged chronologically by artist, the 150 plates are all described, the artist noted and his dates given and the technique used in each case stated in a detailed list of the plates.

There are some great drawings in here, many appear to be studies for masterworks of the artists featured. Although I will have to be selective of some of the anatomically correct drawings for my younger students, they provide super examples of the art process. My older students and myself can use them for drawing practice. It is a valuable resource for artists.

This book was a disappointmet. I once owned a hardcover book featuring full color drawings of famous artists from the Renaissance on. Unfortuantely, I no longer have this book and can’t find it on-line. Bought this book as it claimed to cover the same territory. Poor selection of drawings, few in color. Do not buy!

This review is only for the Kindle Version. The low rate is not due its content, but due the low quality of the images used on the Kindle Version. Being a drawing book, you would expect great quality images that you can study and analyze, but instead every image is very small, and when you zoom it, it looses so much quality that you can barely recognize the stroke lines… So, if you want to purchase this book, buy the printed copy instead!
