Good for a half price buy, but like another reviewer noted, there’s a lot of widely available art here. At the least, I would have liked full page versions of each factions loading screen & unit art. Will still be nice to use for paint scheme inspiration for my miniatures.

I bought it for the artwork and I was not disappointed. What a beautiful set of paintings of a lovely war-torn world of perpetual battle between orcs, elves, humans and blubbering monstrocities.
The guys who painted the little toy soldiers photographed for this book are masters, absolute masters. Highly recommended.
My 3 favorite Amazon purchases:
– Icon by Frank Frazetta
– Dungeons and Dragons Basic Set by Gary Gygax
– Great Fighter Jets of the Galaxy 1 by Tim Gibson

I really love the artwork and information they provided on decisions they’ve made throughout the years

Sensacional.

I was very excited to receive this book. As an artist myself, studying concept art of my favorite games is a huge source of inspiration for me. This book talks about the immense undertaking Creative Assembly managed when creating the Total War: Warhammer series accompanied with beautiful concept art for its development.
I give three stars however because there are errors and strange choices made. Several of the descriptions are mismatched to the wrong pictures, and oddly enough the Ogre Kingdoms section is entirely absent of unit or character concept art. I suppose it could be because they were DLC but the book released well after the games release date, it seems odd to have a section about them that only shows off environmental design. You don’t even see what an Ogre looks like in their section!
Overall I’m satisfied.

I had been very disappointed with CA’s first Total War artbook, the one dedicated to their historical series. It had mostly consisted of promotional pieces of art that were widely available online and not what I was hoping for: a good look at the concept art for the units and buildings.
In spite of this, I took a risk and bought this book as I’d been very much enjoying the Warhammer TW games. Was it better than their historical book? Yes. Was it what I was hoping for? No.
Once again, what I wanted to see was the design art for the units and the architecture/environments. ALL of them. This book did improve on that aspect, as it showed a semi-decent number of unit and environment pictures, but it didn’t show all of them. Really, what I wanted was a full collection of detailed artwork of all the units available in the series (which isn’t a big ask, considering the art definitely already exists). Instead what we were given is a selection of unit artwork. Which, once again, isn’t what I was looking for.
The book’s construction seems fairly sturdy, the binding seems tight and the hardcover and dust jacket are good quality. The paper is suitably thick and durable. I found nothing to complain about there. And if you’re just interested in seeing a selection of artwork from the game and aren’t fussed about whether everything is included or not, you’ll likely be satisfied with the book’s selection (though I found their Warhammer III selection to be even more sparse than the rest). If, like me, you were hoping for a comprehensive art collection you will be disappointed.
I feel it is a 2.5 star book, but since that’s not an option I rounded it up to 3.
