This is ideal for learning to paint flowers in watercolour. Easy to understand and follow and gives a good list of essentials without being extensive and expensive for a beginner

THE ACTUAL CONTENT OF THE BOOK WAS EXCELLENT WITH MANY MANY EXAMPLES OF SIMPLE TO MUCH MORE COMPLICATD FLOWERS TO SKETCH AND PAINT. IT IS VERY INFORMATIVE AND I HAVE ALREADY SPENT HOURS WORKING MANY TIMES WORKING WITH LOADS OF DIFFERENT FLOWERES THE BOOK ARRIVED WITH A RIP IN THE OUTER COVER BUT AS SOON AS I CONTACT TTHE SELLERS THEY INSTANTLY REFUNDED ME THE WHOLE COSTS OF THE BOOK. THE SELERS WERE VERY AND A APPROCHABLE AND HELPFUL TOO. WOULD DEFINETLY BUY FROM THIS SELLER AGAIN

I bought this book on the strength of another Jill Bays book that I have & although it is very thorough in its approach, I do have some reservations.
In the main this is because all the illustrations are by Jill Bays and her style is a particular & loose one.
I would have preferred to see some examples by other painters with varied approaches.

This is a lovely book but I was a little dissapointed to find it was once a library book stamped on more than one page good job it was just for me but I would have appreciated knowing it was a library b ookbefore I ordered.

I am so happy ordering used books from Amazon. This book was priced right and was nearly new..as good as I’d get at my local bookstore where others are free to page through books. It is a lovely book with many fine examples of beautiful floral paintings. Not a step by step instruction if that is what you are looking for.

This does not work on the Kindle. I am sure the book format is excellent, the content certainly is but it does not work as a handbook as all the illustrations are too small to follow. I thought enlarging the print size would enlarge the illustrations but they are too small to be able to follow. It would work if it was possible to zoom in as with photos but that isn’t available. I am really disappointed as this has been a total waste of money. If considering I would advise you to pay the extra for the book copy.

Excellent how-to for painting flowers in watercolor! Author emphasized studying the shapes of petals and leaves to paint a variety of flowers from roses to snowdrops, and poppies to daffodils. Now I want to buy the print copy for my painting library.

This book contained much useful information. I finally learned what “value” is as well as tone and other terms. I have been practicing, and learning. Some I hope to frame.

This book has helpful instructions for making the loose sketches to outline the flowers and gives the color palette that can be used to obtain similar results. I like how the book shows complementary backgrounds so you can create a complete illustration. The pictures in the text are tiny; however, zooming works well and does not lose too much resolution on the Kindle.
