The Civil War storyline is finally here and Marvel has put out another wonderful artbook companion to the movie.
Just like the earlier Captain America artbooks and also other Marvel artbooks, you get the slipcase edition here. I love the design on the cover that shows the tension between Captain America and Ironman. The hardcover also has a nice cover with all the superheroes going at one another.
The presentation style and art direction is similar to other Marvel artbooks. You get to see lots of character designs, environment art, there are storyboards and also commentary from the staff.
In every Marvel film, you see some sort of costume redesign. So in this artbook, you get to see the new costumes as well, although not as much compared to artbooks that are character-specific. The new characters are Crossbones and Blank Panther but unfortunately we don’t have a lot on the new designs for Spider-man. I think they might be keeping the Spider-man material for when the new movie comes up.
Environment artworks are nice but and so are the numerous illustrated action scenes. There are many, and many are drawn and printed across two pages. The art really has more impact when printed at larger sizes. The book presents the content in chronological order so if you haven’t watched the movie, then this is obviously a major spoiler.
Overall, for the price, you get a 272-page book that’s packed with beautiful art and insightful writeup. It’s worth the money. Highly recommended to the fans.

Another beautiful book from the Marvel team, in which the behind the scenes work of the successful new studio’s 3rd film in the Captain America series is documented.
Storyboards, character costume designs and links to the legacy of the Captain America character are all here.
Every design is a work of art and could be framed.

Qualidade do Papel tremenda. Cuidado na edição. Fotos Sensacionais.
Creio que a Marvel deveria lançar alguns deles em Português, tipo o dos Vingadores e esse que fez um sucesso Monstro…

As a devotee of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I had high expectations for “The Art of Marvel Captain America: Civil War,” and I’m glad it exceeded them in all aspects. This fascinating book gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the making of one of the most iconic films in the MCU, offering a treasure trove of concept art, storyboards and insights from accomplished artists and cinematographers they were involved in introducing the dramatic conflict in Captain America for his Iron Man life.

THis went over my expectation!! i was surprised how many storyboard sequence they got in the book that was almost exactly how it went in the movie!
i’m also happy with all the character design and concept art for the sets. The only reason why i gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is because the lack of Spiderman concept art in this book, perhaps it’s becasue the addition of him was late in the production, but if you’re looking for some spidey art in this book, i can spoil it for you, there are only 2 and i’ts on the internet already.
I’m also surprised how little there was for the final fight scene with iron man vs winter soilder and cap, there are like 4,5 pages of that only without any storyboards and concept art paintings.
anyway, i’m very happy with this, and the amazon price is pretty sweet too compare with how it’s going for in my local store

All Marvel movie art books are fantastic. From the size, shape, quality of the book and the additional slipcover, you cannot go wrong with purchasing one of them. Civil War does not fall short and is a fantastic addition to the collection. The art is fantastic, from character design to location concept art to animated action images, this book is a perfect companion to expand on the movie that was already action packed.

Hey, this is really, really nice. I must say I was surprised. I was expecting your standard how to tv/movie book that’s heavy on pictures but not so much on quality. But this guy is great. The slipcover is nice and thick and the paper stock is a quality worthy of any high-end photo book. But most important, the art work is absolutely beautiful.
I went ahead and purchased Marvel’s Avengers as well. A nice surprise here because the dimensions of the slipcover match exactly to this one. Silly I know, but as a collector, these things matter when you display or put it on your bookshelf.

After being disappointed with the Art of Marvel’s Ant-Man, I thought perhaps the Marvel art books were becoming redundant. How many ways can you present concept art and still keep it interesting? After receiving The Art of Civil War, I realized the underlying material is essential. While Ant-Man was a fun film, his origin and “world” were fairly straightforward and even mundane compared to other heroes. Civil War is more epic in scope, and the art showcases that.
The Art of Civil War was excellent, on par with the two Avengers films art books. This is partly due to so many characters taking part, in particular brand new ones (Spidey and Black Panther), but also because the environments were spread globally. Further, rather than just being inspired by decades of comics, Civil War has a very specific comic event that underlies the story. This enhanced the narrative sections immensely as we see how the two compared. Some art depicted characters both Team Cap and Team Iron Man, as the line-up was still being worked out in the early stages. It was great to see concept art for unused fight sequences and the various costume upgrades (though I was surprised at the number of pages devoted to Crossbones considering his brief appearance!). The book has made me very excited for the inevitable Phase 3 films’ art books.
The book has the same production values as previous entries, high gloss pages, full color, with the matching slipcase. A beautiful book. Overall, this was a worthy addition to the Marvel art book collection. Highly recommended.

This lines of books are nothing but stellar. For those of us that are not in the movie business but absolutely love Marvel movies it is a window to look into the creative process of characters, settings and action sequences.
The foreword are an incredible touch in which the director and/or designers pour their heart out.
I you loved Civil War this has to be the first thing you buy related to the movie.
