I really like this Sketch Journaling book overall. The illustrations and examples are easy to follow…up to a point. It focuses a little too much on food drawing and the sections on other topics such as illustrating maps, street scenes, building fronts and people are a little sketchy (pun intended). There are great step by step exercises for drawing, for example, a coffee and croissant but when the book comes to people it jumps straight to the completed examples. There are some lovely examples involving perspective but no in depth guide. I would suggest it provides the basics for those just starting out or wanting to introduce some hand drawn elements to their daily or travel journals.

I pre-ordered this book for my kindle a couple of months ago when browsing the internet!
I received it today, and I can honestly say I’m not disappointed!!
There are a lot of tutorial books I have looked through and bought a few that just show more of their work than actually showing techniques and how they create the process.
This author has done far better than that, and takes you through the process of the basics to actually step by step sketching out and watercolour painting subjects to do with Sketch journalism, along with snippets of their own gallery of sketching and not just bombarding you with it!
I am really looking forward to using this book to help me step into the world of Sketch Journaling.
