FIRST Amazon decides to chuck the book in with a bunch of other stuff and manages to damage the dust jacket

SECOND not sure if this is the Publisher or another Amazon SNAFU but the pages are STICKY and each page needs to be peeled apart, damaging pages

    This is getting returned

This could have had more slightly-smaller images, but I know that Studios do not like to give too much away, especially not direct spoilers. This book came out relatively early, pun intended. Its best section is about the music. No surprise that music is important, especially to a science fiction movie. Everyone knows that STAR WARS would have been anemic without its score. Suspicions confirmed that INTERSTELLAR music used church pipe organs, the movie having a religious plot. Fun that one church was formerly used by Knights Templars, who took the idea of leaving the nest to extremes of murderous invasion in The Holy Land. Anyway, I will put this big heavy book on my coffee table, even though I don’t drink coffee and had to unstick the pages dangerously and found the screenplay inane and derivative and found the Kip Thorne book a lot better, though the author was obviously (but not actually) in bed with the Director/God. Ordinarily I love picture books. This one came out so soon that it almost violates the forward arrow of time. Musta been in the Studio’s Master Marketing Plan from the start.

Amazing companion to one of the most ambitious and wonderful Science Fiction epics of all times.
I love how Christopher Nolan produces an art book to almost all of his films, since the process of creating a Christopher Nolan film is surely a unique and astonishing process, and can give great insight how these amazing ideas from his brilliant mind come to fruition as a movie no other filmmaker could have made.

10 Years later, Interstellar is considered a Science-Fiction classic, and deservingly so. This movie is nothing short of a masterpiece, and this beautiful film art book is a magnificent companion that shows how this brilliant story was brought from a mere ambitious idea to the big screen.
It’s amazing to see the effort Nolan, the cast and all the people in the crew put in to create this one of a kind movie. This book gives a great documentation of that process and serves as a very fun read or browse-through.

As far as film art books go, this one is incredible. It feels very high quality and includes great excerpts and art, and on top of all, accompanies a movie that the creative process behind it is surely fascinating, intriguing and also inspiring.
    Highly recommended.

I would have given this book five stars if when I first received it I did not have to spend 45 minutes carefully pealing apart each and every page and seeing the stitches from the binding protruding between many of its pages all the while hoping the book didn’t fall apart. The book feels fragile and I’m fairly certain it will fall apart if it is looked at too many times.
This is unfortunate because this is actually a beautiful book. The printing is glossy and sharp and the photos are stunning. This book is a solid read and I love that Kip Thorne contributed. A must have for any fan of Christopher Nolan or Interstellar… with the understanding that the binding will probably come apart.

Spettacolare!

The media could not be loaded.

This is a wonderful book that will add to your appreciation of the film after you’ve seen it — and I emphasize AFTER because it is best to experience the movie on it’s own terms, knowing as little as possible about it. If you have seen the film and liked it, then you should consider picking up this book.

The book “Beyond Time and Space” is half making-of and half an art book. It has enlightening text which elaborates on the casting, the production challenges, building practical sets/models, creating the film’s musical score, etc. Also included are high-quality photographs and imagery that really must be seen.

Here’s a breakdown of some of the things you’ll find in the book (minor spoilers):
    – Discussion on the involvement of Kip Thorne and the real science
    – Coop’s farm – production photos and interior shots of the house.
    – Filming on location/designs of the Water Planet and Ice Planet
    – Designs of the Endurance and Ranger
    – The costume design of the spacesuits
    – Storyboards and sketches
    – Designing TARS and CASE
    – Filming for Zero G sequences
    – Casting (and photos of the key actors/characters)
    – The aging process for certain characters
    – On set photos of director Nolan
    – Filming with IMAX cameras
    – Hans Zimmer and creating the score

    * NOTE: A lot of customers are mentioning a printing issue that causes some pages to stick upon first reading, so be gentle when flipping through for the first time. It seems this is a widespread issue – though its not bad enough to deter a purchase in my view. But the book is currently available in digital format, so if you have a Kindle Fire tablet and/or the Kindle App for iPad, then that could be a potential alternative.

A beautiful book about a wonderfull movie. It covers the making off and the art of Christopher Nolan movie and shows all the adventure of the production with spaceship mockups transported to a ice lake in Iceland and the art of creating realistic spacesuits and astrophysical phenomena like black holes and wormholes. Reading the book you will feel transported to the studio and locations of the movie

I agree with others on the “sticky page” problem. Having worked for years in the printing industry, I can say this: the sticking problem would not have happened if the printer had allowed more time for the ink to dry on the printed sheets before binding the book. That said, the printing production that went into this book is very high end……every single page, after the ink printing stage was done, was run through the press one last time and a coat of clear shiny shellac was applied to the pages, giving them that gorgeous shine and making the colorwork just glow gorgeously. And to top this class printing job off, they printed the text in silver ink, and on top of that rich black inked page……… well…..that puts this book into the category of probably one of the most beautiful books I have ever seen. Between the great “contents” of this book (the photography was excellent in quality), the text info, and the quality printing job on this book, I say this book ought to get some sort of prize.

Great to see the making of the film “Intersellar” Everthing that is in the printed book is here, in the e-book. Maybe, in the future we’ll see some moving pictures here or there in “How was it made”.
