This book provides excellent how-to-draw detail that is appealing and easy to follow for Hot Wheels(tm) and drawing enthusiasts from ages 10 to adult. Detailed drawing techniques with descriptive captions allow readers to create their own automotive designs. Illustrations emphasize how to draw fantasy, custom, concept, and hot rod cars. Author Scott Robertson uses original Mattel artwork throughout the book. With real Mattel artwork featured in detail, the bo0ok has great appeal for collectors, even if they aren’t aspiring artists. Because Hot Wheels(tm) diecast cars are modeled after both real and fantasy vehicles, the techniques and interest to readers is the same as for real-life car enthusiasts. Officially licensed by Mattel.

Bought the book for my son who is at college and studying industrial design engineering. He used it to make some drawings for a project and they came out great!

This book covers the core concepts needed for drawing good cars and exploring 3d form in perspective. I feel that many drawing books are simply the author showing off, and not really teaching; this book is not one of those. Scott Robertson has also created DVD’s which make a great companion to the book. The DVDs combined with this book have been the best drawing resource I can find, and I’ve been looking for quite some time. I highly recommend getting both. 🙂

Another great purchase! I have always loved collecting hot wheels, but have never really been able to draw them to well. This book has changed that. Can’t recommend enough.

Purchased for a 7.75 year old boy who loves to draw. He likes it but not as well as the drawing book by Hart.

…I would imagine the average age of the average Hot Wheels fan to be about 6. There’ll be some much older afficionados, but on the whole, I’d say most HW fans are pushing 6 or 7 max and this book is way too advanced for them. My son, Matthew, loves his Hot Wheels and likes looking at the book, but has no inclination to pick up his pencil and start designing because it’s so obvious that the results are unattainable for someone of his age and/or ability. That said, it’s a beautifully produced book with lovely graphics.
