I use this all the time when homeschooling my daughter. Often her set syllabus will touch on something, then I haul out the History of the World atlas and we look in more depth at a topic.

Well written and lovely maps and diagrams. An ambitious subject, which often results in lack of depth on specific subjects. But for quick overviews of events such as battles it is a useful go to.

This Atlas is a valued reference book, I bought each of my family’s copies, as my grandchildren are in high schools and a couple in their final years they are finding this History of the World map by map invaluable.

I bought this as a gift, it’s a great book with really clear information and helps link history to a lot of geographical factors & issues. This is not the kind of book you would buy if you wanted lots of detailed information about a specific historical event, it is much more broad and gives you a base knowledge of key points in history. I really liked the graphics and it is a great quality book.

The book is very good but Amazon interal packagings to protect the book, which is large and heavy, was terrible, resulting in damage to the book when received. The book was not book was not bubble rapped and so freely moved around in its Amazon box causing damage. It was not worth my time or expense to send the book back. But wished I has purchased the book it a store in stead of through Amazon.

I came across this at a physical bookstore while I was browsing but its size/weight made it impractical to buy at the time. It seemed like a great book and I thought it would be a good Christmas present for my children. Anyway, I got home and got onto Amazon and, incredibly, the book was marked 55% RRP off so I think the Universe was giving me a gift there. I saved $35… yay!

This is a thoroughly enjoyable book to read. It is a great introduction to understanding the history of the world. The maps and accompanying pictures give the reader a very good visual presentation and explanation of historical events. The hardcover means this book should last a long time and I am looking forward to reading this again and again with grandchildren in the future. I have given this book 5 stars it is well deserved and once again DK has produced another quality book. Thanks also to Amazon and Book Depository for the speedy delivery and ensuring this large and heavy book arrived in good condition. I am very happy.
