I bought this for a coworker for a Christmas gift, but I was tempted to buy one for myself after seeing the quality of the print and descriptions. There’s a nice art splash for each Godzilla design from the first, to the (nearly) most recent iterations, accompanied by a synopsis of the Godzilla design. The texture of the cover and weight are very nice, and a great design for the pages and the book itself. Highly recommended if you like creature design or a huge Godzilla fan

Wenn es ein Buch gibt, welches Godzilla- oder Kaiju-Fans allgemein haben sollten, dann ist es meiner Meinung nach ganz klar das hier rezensierte GODZILLA: THE OFFICIAL GUIDE TO THE KING OF THE MONSTERS.
Das Buch überzeugt sehr – und das schon auf den ersten Blick. Mit einem Umfang von 256 stark aufgemacht Seiten wird viel gut aufgemachter Inhalt geboten, und das gesamte Buch macht einen höchst wertigen Eindruck, und dies bei einem für ein solches Buch definitiv am unteren Ende des Rahmens angesiedeltem Preis.
Inhaltlich gibt es auch die volle Ladung Godzilla: bis hin zu “Shin Godzilla” werden die Filme chronologisch geordnet besprochen, wobei neben der Handlung auch Insiderinformationen, Anekdoten, Charakterbeschreibungen, Produktionstechniken und Spezialeffekte thematisiert werden. Abgerundet wird dies mit vielen Fotos und Reproduktion der Kino-Plakate. Viel mehr Content kann man auf 256 Seiten kaum packen, und bei all dem ist GODZILLA: THE OFFICIAL GUIDE TO THE KING OF THE MONSTERS auch noch sehr unterhaltsam geschrieben – man merkt, dass hier echte Fans und Liebhaber am Werk waren.
Alles in allem: Literatur über und um Godzilla gibt es eine ganze Menge, wenn man ein einziges Buch empfehlen müsste wäre es meiner Meinung nach glasklar GODZILLA: THE OFFICIAL GUIDE TO THE KING OF THE MONSTERS.
