Simple methods teach how to draw figures.
When we try to draw a person, we are quickly confronted with various challenges. The proportions need to be correct, the attitude must be clear and vivid, the face should show resemblance and also be expressive. Such a task takes courage. Yet a little practice and training quickly lead to the ability to draw figures in a wide variety of styles. A figure in a particular posture can be assembled with a few key characteristic strokes. At the center of this collection is not the perfect figure, but the joy of drawing, and how, with simple methods, drawing people is possible: by reducing and reducing to a few lines, using clear contours and simple surfaces, the human figure emerges, constructed and elaborated.

This book is a good guide book on gestural drawing of figures. Many different styles of sketching.

Sampling of many (130?) creative ways to approach quick drawing and painting of simplified figures. I’ve seen similar material in other books, but not so many ideas gathered in one book. Not for detailed figure studies or portraits, but that is not the focus here, and these topics are well covered in other books. Minimal instruction, lots of illustrations. Will use it for urban sketching to capture active poses quickly, put figures in scenes.

Book offers many different approaches to simplify figure drawing and to be faster at it. I get too involved in my approach, and this is just what I needed to break out of my time consuming and tedious approach. It helps to capture the whole gist quickly and easily.

What a good book of examples and techniques. My grandson did not want lots of words, well a sentence on a page absolutely delighted him.
Lots of fun can be had through using this book.

Very helpful drawing book. I am learning how to sketch vignettes for a travel journal, but got bogged down with trying to sketch humans . I liked this book because it has many different methods and illustrations of sketching people, and I am using what I like, and not pursuing what doesn’t work for me.
Highly recommend.
