Illustrated throughout with inspirational photographs and images of good practice within student sketchbooks, the book begins with the basics of primary and secondary research sources and shows students how and where to gather information. Chapters on market, fabric, and color research follow before the final chapter shows how to gather all the information together, understand it, and use it in a process known as triangulation. Additionally, case studies from a wide range of international designers showcase different working methods.
By offering a clear approach to research for fashion design, this book will inspire students to embrace an activity that is both fun and fruitful.

Wish this fabulously informative book had been around when I was at Fashion School!

LoVe this book, it’s obviously been written by someone who:
A) has experience of teaching so the information is delivered in a clear, concise easy to digest way.
B) has experience and contact with the fashion industry so understands what it takes to actually get a job and hopefully be a success.
Actually the other brilliant thing about this book is that it kind of opens up loads of different ways of approaching fashion and the art of designing so that you will want to try out techniques and I think for me at least made me have a much more thorough approach to my projects which in the end gives my designs much more depth and strength, like when people ask me why a particular garment is cut the way it is or why I’ve used that material I can articulate the reasons really well.
If you are studying fashion ir even just a hobby/make your own designer I totally recommend this book!

Really helpful book, use it to explain fashion research to my students. Great imagery too.

Bought this book looking for research inspiration for a collection; or inspiring ways to do reasearch. Although there are lots of colorful photos, this pretty much provided me with the basics of things I already knew. This may be a good book for someone who don’t have any fashion design experience.

Bellissimo, bellissima grafica, bellissime illustrazioni.
