The artistry and dedication of the author/photographer is amazing. From the obvious hard work of cast and crew to the intimate photos of folks relaxing in their own way to the natural, unspoiled locations that transported us to alien worlds – no photo wasted an opportunity to be picture perfect.

Got for family member who is a big fan of Dune and compliments the other books he has. He has enjoyed it thoroughly and great for those who enjoy learning how films are made.

My husband loved it.

Basically, great photographs with limited text, which is what I wanted. Looking forward to getting Part Two.

This book definitely requires viewing the spectacle that is Dune, and reading its companion, The Art and Soul of Dune. Then, you’re taken along the journey of the Set Photographer, on a country-by-country non-sequential trek through memorable landscapes. Many of the location shoots were in genuine Arabian deserts, but the bulk of the studio work was done in Hungary. For fans of this film (and those eager for its sequel!) this book does answer a lot of “how did they do that?” questions.

Full of beautiful photos

Mostly captures scenes from on-location shoots in the Middle East. Love the added insight into how Dune was made.

Photographer Chiabella James has captured over multiple locations both interior and exterior images that cover a panoramic range of documentary images in both colour and monochrome. The images capture candid moments on set, atmospherically lit set pieces and beautifully framed landscapes, a number of the artfully crafted images contained in this volume are worth the purchase price alone. This collection epitomizes a Photographer at the very top of their art, being a Photographer and a lover of the visual landscape created for this incarnation of Dune it is a highly recommended purchase.
