The content of this book is wonderful. The artist goes through the details of how to create the whole menagerie as well as their environments clearly and in detail. It is a wonderful resource, not only for the ideas and sketches, but for where to gather ideas of your own. I love everything this Artist does. I bought 3 books in this series and love all 3, and may by the 4th book as well. My only complaint with this book is the paper quality is not as good as the other 2 books. I actually called Amazon to find out if they got this book from a bootlegger or something. They did tell me it was published 2 years before the other 2. But with that said I am very happy to have this book as a resource.

Another really good book by Stephanie Law. Like the others, she goes over materials and basic techniques at the beginning, before taking you step by step through a full painting. Tips to drawing your own are included along the way.

I know some people will miss it in the item description but this is a watercolour book. The pencil drawing is additive

I own the others in the series as physical copies but had to buy this one in ebook form. It doesn’t negatively effect the readability of the book. If anything it means I can zoom more.

Beautiful drawings as always. I love her art work. I wish the book would give new tips though, or at least have new pictures while demonstrating the old techniques. Other than that, I absolutely adore this book and would recommend it to anyone who is interesded in buying it. 🙂

I have been considering buying this book for a few years but haven’t because I thought it would end up on a shelf. Through my kindle fire, I can carry it with me wherever I go. It makes great material to peruse while waiting at appointments and it is not collec- ting dust. The price is also better than the hard copy. I also have the Shadowscapes tarot which Stephanie did the art work. Love that too! She has the kind of beautiful artwork developed by years of practice and hardwork to create that wonderful flowing style! Keep up the good work Stephanie!

I have 2 of her books and wanted to add this beauty to the collection. I just love her artwork. If you’re a beginning watercolorist I would just add this fact (not mentioned in the book): Use 100% cotton paper with at least 140lb/300gsm! She also suggests cold press paper mostly- and I’m a fan of hot press, personally. Realize you have a choice in papers and no matter what your preference, get 100% cotton/140lb, for results like you see in her book. It’s ALL about the paper! Then when it comes to paints, if you wanna go pro or hang the art on walls in the sun, do your research on lightfastness and choose accordingly (Mission Gold is amazing)!! Get good supplies starting out and you won’t be discouraged along the way. If you start with student grade and cheap stuff, you may find yourself stuck and never progressing.

I love that Stephanie has now put out this beautiful book on fantasy creatures. I have her first book on painting fairies mermaids and angels. And when I saw this one I just had to have it, and I haven’t been disapointed with it at all. It is one of my absolute favorite art books. And while I wouldn’t say that it’s neither better nor worse than the other two books in the Dreamscapes line, I would deffinately say that it stands alone in the series because it deals with the subject of animals which I just love to paint. If you’re like me and you like to paint whimsical animals, then you’ll probaly love this book.

Stephanie Pui-Mun Law is my absolute favorite artist, and I draw a lot of inspiration from her works. Before I even knew who she was, I was drawing and painting similarly themed subjects, and when I stumbled across another of her books (Dreamscapes: Myths and Magic) at my local art supply store, I noticed that my drawing style was already very similar to hers. So I’ve picked up all the books in her Dreamscapes series to learn as much as I can, and I’ve noticed a definite improvement.

It arrived about a day later than expected, (although I did not mind, it was only one day), and the book has absolutely wonderful tutorials in it. Very helpful, and the illustrations are so stunningly gorgeous.

This is my second copy. My first is packed away in another state. As soon as I received this book I did 4 drawings. And I realized how many I had done with the assistance of my first book. Really love the author.
