I do own quite a few books on landscape painting. This one is in the top 3. I bought a copy for my brother who is a painter, he rated it very highly. Showed it to my painting teacher who immediately ordered a copy – it has some great exercises in it which can be used by students and professionals alike. On second thoughts, if you only buy one book on landscape painting, it might have to be this one. Top marks.

This book exceeded my expectations. I have an extensive personal library of landscape/plein air painting books and the exercises presented in this book were very well described and not a simple repeat of what I have seen with other books. It is clear that the author is a teacher as well as a painter, and understands how people learn the subject of capturing landscapes on a 2D surface. I am looking forward to digging into the content of this book through deliberate study.
