I’m an artist of over a decade, and this may be one of the most informative digital art books (or art books in GENERAL) I’ve read. most books on “manga art” I write off personally because they’re usually about manga anatomy or style, I picked this one up at a bookstore because I genuinely wanted to know more about composition, and it did NOT disappoint. A lot of art books (from my experience) focus on old and true oil/acrylic painting techniques, how to use a digital art program, or how to draw in a certain style. I had little use for any of them, but this book teaches me more than what I learned in art high school. I wish I had resources like this when I was younger, but this is still very informative now.
This book has a manga/anime art style, but it can be applied to any medium or drawing technique. If I had any critique, it’s that this book focuses more on illustration than comics, in my opinion. That being said, I am mostly an illustrator, so this absolutely helped me. I am shouting from the rooftops, buy this!!

While I haven’t read the entire thing in full, the information provided is very useful and informative. I will note that if you don’t already understand perspective and learning the basics, you might need to wait on this book. Don’t get me wrong its very helpful but it assumes you already have a understanding of perspective and now your wanting to do more then just the basic stuff. What I also like about this book is that, it has a difficulty rating on all compositions if your wanting to try it out for yourself.
