Any information provided by Zoltan Szabo is worth the price and wait. It’s unfortunate it couldn’t be updated to more color but this is the thing about self-taught artists – they present instructions and techniques in the simplest way – the way they learned by trial and error and gratefully share these lessons and techniques with the world. I have other Zoltan Szabo books and I treasure them as the greatest reference material I have.

I have always admired Zoltan Szabo’s work but this particular book I found a disappointment compared to his others. It’s mostly illustrated in black and white so bear this in mind if you buy a copy.

Even though I am a beginning watercolorist, I am drawn to the abstract and impressionist style. Szabo fits the bill. I love his ideas-especially the excercizes listed to encourage you to become your own designer, rather than just following the steps outlined by another artist. Although it would be nice to have all his works in color rather than black and white, it is the intensity(value) of the colors-I think-that Mr Szabo is trying to demonstrate. Great artist, and great book!

This book was delivered quickly and in the used condition exactly as described. The book itself has many watercolour tips and techniques I have not found in other books so has been very very useful in extending my grasp of the difficult medium of watercolours. Even though some of the example pictures are in black and white it is a pity that this book is no longer in print.
