This book came highly recommended in a perspective drawing course I am taking for Interior Design. Having had the chance to look it over thoroughly, I can see why. It is a fantastic resource to assist in rendering and coloring your client presentations and provides the sort of detailed direction that many of these textbooks gloss over. In particular, if you do not already have an art background it provides valuable guidance in creating believable color and texture.

Inspirational book by industry legend. A great resource for certain design professionals. Doyle shows how he does it with supurb examples. He skims over some of the technical reprographic issues; unless you work next door to a copy shop or have tens of thousands of dollars of large format reprographic equipment at your disposal it would be difficult to work at this level. He also doesn’t mention the extreme amount of talent needed to create work of the quality shown in the book. But for design professionals striving to create the best possible presentation drawings, this book is a must purchase!

I was looking for a book that would show me how to render city backgrounds. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! It gives alot of techniques and goes into detail how each tool is used to bring the drawing to life. It shows alcohol markers, color pencils, and photoshop techniques. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you’re trying to learn how to integrate and blend the layers to make your work look stunning.
I can’t wait to get started, this is extremely useful to have in your library!

The 3rd edition of Doyle’s fantastic Color Drawing is far more than just a cosmetic update! The tried-and-true marker and color techniques are still there, but with new twists and tricks. From quick study sketches to final renderings, he will help you be a better communicator. Best of all, the author offers up loads of great information on editing and enhancing traditional drawings with Photoshop!
Every design student AND practicing professional should keep a copy of this right next to his/her workspace…

I had initially came across this book via Amazon back in 2009 but at the time (due to recent publication then) it was more expensive then I could afford. This is an awesome instructional and helpful book for both artists, interior designers, and architecturally minded fields. I don’t know how many are still in circulation but I highly recommend getting this. I was fortunate, in that the book was practically new.

This book is great and walks you through how to render, colours used and steps taken. I always refer her before going about rendering something new.

I am a beginning artist. I am especially interested in drawing. This book has fabulous examples of using marker, pastel and colored pencil for bringing a drawing to the next level. The ideas brought forth are exactly what I have been searching for. The book also has references to other books which I have acquired. I also use graphic programs at work. This book takes a hand drawing into Photoshop for the next level as well. Awesome book!

It is a very handy book, but this edition is leaning more towards photoshop capabilities. The tips it gives for computer rendering are nice to know but I think it’s sacrificing a bit of the hand rendering information which I would have liked to see more of.

good all the way!

This book takes you through the understanding of how colors relate to one another, how to approach the relationships among the lines drawn, and even how to approach your color media. It’s very informative and I still love to refer to this book when I drawn and render.

Absolutely the best book I now own on not only rendering techniques, but drawing as well. The author is easy to follow, great colourful examples, step by step instruction, and not overwhelming for beginners, but not boring for advanced students as well. EXCELLENT sooo happy I had to buy this book, now I would recommend it to anyone, not just in interior design, but anyone who is looking to improve their drawing skills, especially when it comes to adding that final touch;colour!

Very useful for colouring in my architecture program. Recommended for anyone who needs to render a drawing with colour and thinks that they cannot.
