    Hat mir extrem gut geholfen
    Werde jeden Tag immer besser

Simply atrocious formatting. Pages with no text, and text kerning issues. Pages have to actually LOAD all the text in, I’ve never seen that in any of my digital art books. And it isn’t like once or twice, this would happen EVERY other page.

There was a lot of good content in this book, and despite this one issue I would have been happy to give this as a present to my child. However the ways female characters were depicted in this book often was “sexy” whereas male characters were “tough”. We would have been fine if everyone was tough, but why are all female characters in short skirts and revealing low cut dresses? Can’t we get past this?

We bought three books and kept the other two:

The really wonderful book for older kids and more experienced artists: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1440308357?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

Every flip of a page made me more and more excited to get practicing! I have some experience with drawing, but have done little humanoid work. This really breaks everything down in a digestible and comprehensive way!

Pretty good book, I’m a beginner and it helped me a lot to start to draw characters in the style I like. Kindle version has some formatting issues, but they are mostly in the titles, and doesn’t prevent you from reading text.

  8. Amazon Customer

Definitely a must have for any artist, especially those getting into character design.

Bought the book as I have been looking into getting back into art and as a keen D&D player this book jumped out to me and the price was good enough to give it a go.

The book is neatly laid out and the content is fantastic. From colour theory, portrait and anatomy to character design. I can see this as a resource that I will keep coming back to in the future.

Also as a bonus the publisher seems to promise to plant a tree for each book sold which is a nice bonus (provided they follow through, but I’d like to think they will)

Overall this book is great, it however won’t make you a photo-realistic fantasy artist but it points you in the right direction with clear and concise examples and tips.
    Very happy with my purchase.

I got this for my friend for his birthday. He’s an art teacher and said he liked the book. It had some good tips and was nice beginner tutorial for fantasy drawing.

  11. Jonathan Lopes

Bought this one for my little brother who is an artist like me and he LOVED it. I’m personally a fan of Martin J Abel, the artist who illustrated most of the book, and his work. I think anyone can read this book and be inspired and informed on the simpler side of shape language, anatomy, color theory, and material range.

  12. David.D

I only had the chance to skim it briefly. It doesn’t quite seem to be as “beginner” as the title states, but if you have a rudimentary understanding of drawing already it seems to be a great source of references and inspiration. Like any other tool, it is as good as the use you make of it.

  13. Kindle Customer

Excellent book on drawing fantasy characters and creatures. Very enjoyable page layouts. Includes reviews on drawing, color, and anatomy basics. Really pleased with the medium sized book format. Easy to take anywhere. More content than I expected.
